First Year Experience:
While in dental hygiene school at WSCC we are responsible for confirming patients for their appointments when we are SA. We are also responsible for making appointments and making sure patients know to take their pre-med before they come in for a cleaning. It is important to know how to communicate correctly and to use professional/appropriate language when doing so.

Second Year Experience:
My second year has taught me how to communicate with patients and learn how to make them feel comfortable around me. Doing this really helps patients relax and feel less nervous when getting a cleaning. I have also perfected my communication skills by performing oral hygiene instructions. It is important to take the time to do this and to use the appropriate language with patients depending on their age so they get the best instructions and can understand how to keep their mouths clean and healthy!
